"I will provide a brief explanation of the history, meanings, and usage of Dragon Script, which is a unique Japanese character set.

Dragon Script is inspired by the sacred dragon, which was considered an extremely important entity in Japanese legends and beliefs. Its power and mystique are reflected in the characters. Dragon Script consists of pictographic characters based on the appearance and features of the dragon, possessing its own beauty and elegance.

How to write scrips, draw lines with a brush

If you want to write your own, please refer to the following method.
For the Futomani and the list of 48 characters, first draw a line and then write one character at a time. It may be difficult at first, but put a sample letter under the translucent paper and  practice writing the scripts by tracing them over and over again. The lines are drawn by using an ancient Japanese technique called ‘Mizobiki’.

“Mizobiki” is a method known to those who are somewhat older or familiar with design. In Japanese rulers, there are grooves on the opposite side of the scale, measuring approximately 3mm to 5mm.

This method uses those grooves to draw lines. Place the ruler 1cm away, parallel to where you want to draw a line and hold a thin, rounded stick (a glass mizobiki stick) and a brush, just like holding chopsticks, place the stick in the groove and place the brush soaked in ink at the line-drawing location, and slide both the stick and brush together in the groove. This should allow you to draw the line. Until you are accustomed to it, drawing lines evenly may be challenging, but it becomes easy with practice. By mastering this method, you can draw not only straight lines but also curved lines, wavy lines, circles, and any other shapes.  Saizo draws ten lines within a width of 1mm.
